The "College Dilemma"
The basic problem that we've encountered with most families today is that there are two needs competing for the same resources – parents often want to pay for the best college education for their children, but they also know they need to stay on track for retirement. The costs for college are high and getting more so - $15,000 a year for a typical public university, $30,000 for a private college, and $45,000 a year for an elite private school education – all in after-tax dollars.
As difficult as it is to save for college, you and your student know how far a post-secondary education goes towards the quality of a career and life as an adult. While very difficult to sacrifice a healthy and secure retirement, there are existing strategies that reduce the out-of-pocket expenses of your college education costs. In fact, we believe there are two types of costs for college – one for the informed, and one for the uninformed. Click here to become more informed!
College Savings vs. College Funding
You may think the concept of college planning only involves accumulating enough savings to send your child to school. This is really just the first step. We specialize in working with affluent families who will not qualify for need-based financial aid. We will work with you to not only save FOR the cost of college, but also to save ONthe cost of college. Our advisors are part of a select group of Certified College Planning Specialists, as recognized by the National Institute of Certified College Planners (NICCP). From what can otherwise seem like an endless universe of financial, tax, and income strategies, we will work with you to implement college-specific strategies as part of an overall financial plan that will:
- Allow your student to attend the school of their choice, not just the one you think you can afford
- Reduce your out-of-pocket expense by qualifying for the maximum financial aid package (and appealing your award, if applicable)
- Properly position your income and assets, helping to max out your college savings
- Identify merit-based aid for which your student may be eligible
- Analyze cash flow and loan strategies to cover any shortfall
Because of the deep commitments of time and energy we make to all of our clients, we are only able to coordinate our College Partners Education Funding Plans for those who also engage any of our other services, including:
Speaking Engagements
As experts in the niche field of college planning and funding, many parents around the central Ohio community have come to know us for our educational workshops that we have frequently sponsored over the past couple of years. Because of the overall costs and time commitments, we are regretful to say that we no longer offer these workshops to the general public.
However, should you have a small group to which you'd like us to speak, such as your local PTO, trade group, or association, please Contact Us about your unique opportunity and circumstances. Depending on our company calendar, we offer a limited number of these speaking engagements throughout the year, presented by a CCPS Advisor, for little or no cost.
Speaking engagements are always no-strings attached. And as a gift, all attendees are provided with our Capstone College Funding Optimizer and Capstone College Planning Timeline.
